Business Analyst Resume Example
Business analyst resumes get screened on three axes: domain knowledge, technical fluency, and stakeholder management. The mistake most BA resumes make is listing meetings they attended instead of decisions they enabled.
What hiring managers look for
- ✓Domain depth — finance, healthcare, supply chain, etc. Generic BA experience reads as junior.
- ✓Technical fluency — SQL, Excel, BI tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI), data modeling.
- ✓Stakeholder map — who you wrote requirements for, who you presented to, who you escalated to.
- ✓Deliverables: BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process maps. Name the artifacts.
Common mistakes
- !'Gathered requirements' as a bullet. From whom, on what, leading to what outcome?
- !Mixing project work with operational work without distinguishing them. Hiring managers want to know which mode you're in.
- !Listing every framework (Agile, Waterfall, SAFe, Scrum) without indicating which ones you actually used in practice.
Section by section
Experience
Lead with project scope (budget / team size / domain), then your contribution (the artifacts you owned, the decisions they unlocked), then the outcome (efficiency gain, cost saving, time saved).
